How did we go from buying limited edition flavors to making everything ourselves? [Yes, he's a little bemused.]
I'll say this: you really don't make things easy for yourself.
[Apollo pauses as something else occurs to him.] Do you even know how to bake? [He peers at her suspiciously. Come to think of it, has he ever seen her or Mr. Wright cook before?]
I'll take that as a 'no'... [While he might have been taken in by her confident reassurances once upon a time, Apollo knows her far too well at this point to fall for it.
He sighs.]
If we're baking anything, you have to promise you won't try anything unless I'm there with you.
[Living on his own meant that Apollo had picked up a lot of skills out of sheer desperation--like cooking, for example. He's no ace at making fancy stuff, or even baking, but he figures he should at least stick around to supervise Trucy's attempts. Somehow, Apollo doesn't think Mr. Wright would appreciate it if he came home and found his kitchen half-destroyed by fire.]
I can bake the kind of cookies that already come rolled up as dough. All you do is slice and bake! [ SEE? That totally counts! She snickers at his expression, enjoying it far more than she should. ]
Okay! Besides, it'll be more fun if we're both involved! [ Poor Apollo. She's pretty determined about this now, but at least he's humoring her for the moment.
She springs from the bench with a bright smile suddenly. ]
Come on, Polly! Let's go buy those Snackoos and get to bribing! We'll definitely bake later!
Remind me why we're buying snackoos and making them from scratch again?
[He can't help but quip even as he forces himself off the bench with a long-suffering sigh. She's doing this just to mess with him, he knows it.
The picture and the rest of the information gets tucked safely back into the folder. Feeling a flash of mischief, Apollo taps the brim of her hat, making it slide down to cover her eyes.]
Hey, I promised to treat you, didn't I? Let's stop by some place near the market after we get those snackoos.
Because the next time we need a bribe, we'll be able to make a ton of them and do it cheaply... also, they'll be gourmet Snackoos! And then we can just eat them all instead of giving them away.
[ DUH, Polly! She grins at him, laughing as suddenly, there's darkness via her hat. She tips it back up and loops an arm around one of his as she tends to do when they're walking somewhere he'll inevitably get pulled along to.
...Hey, he did promise lunch! She visibly brightens further, almost impossibly at his words. She'd been so caught up in potential relations and Snackoos, she'd spaced it! ]
Okay, Polly! Where did you want to get lunch, anyways? Oh! While we're at the store, I can show you all of the limited edition flavors of everything!
[How she comes up with these schemes he has no idea, but he's totally grinning and doing a terrible job of hiding it.]
Trucy's crash course in limited edition snack foods? I'll try to contain my excitement. [Apollo lets her tug him along, not even trying to pull his arm out of her grip.] I think there's a cafe that opened up in that area recently. How about we scope it out for lunch?
[ Poor Apollo. She's got an imagination, that's for sure... whether or not it's a good thing or a bad thing is yet to be determined. ]
I'm glad, I'm sure you'll be paying attention the whole time! [ She blinks at his suggestion, and then nods happily, giving his arm a gentle squeeze. ] Sure, that sounds great! It's been a while since we've gone out to lunch together!
[ Into the supermarket they go, and she lets him go to grab a cart. Unfortunately, this also means she's going to ride this cart hell bent down the aisles... but at least she's not dragging him along with her.
She stops only when she nearly crashes into a rather large display of those delicious limited edition Snackoos. ]
Wow, look at them, Polly! There's more than I thought there were! Whoa, they even have salted watermelon flavor! [ He'll have to excuse her as she just. Starts tossing bags into the cart left and right. ]
[Trucy, please stop trying to give him a heart attack. Even though she's clearly avoided crashing into the display, Apollo's heart still gives a nervous jolt at the narrow miss.
To distract himself from the impending heart failure, he eyes the growing pile of Snackoos with two parts trepidation and one part dubiousness.]
Does she even like all these flavors? [Apollo plucks a bag from the cart and...stares at the label.] Caviar flavor, seriously? Who the heck would eat this??
[ Oh, come on, Apollo! This is practically her job! She should be getting paid for all the times she's managed to freak him out or get his poor heart to stop just momentarily. She watches him, a playful, mischievous smile forming on her lips. ]
...Klavier Gavin, maybe. If they taste expensive, he probably would like them! Something tells me... Ema, not so much. But we should definitely buy those anyways! You know. Just in case we need them... for reasons.
It might if they're eating gross Snackoos doused in hot sauce.
[ She blinks, before shrugging her shoulders with a grin. ] Oh, just bullies. They harass me and a few other girls on occasion, but they're big, dumb football players so it's almost a stereotype.
[Would they be dense enough to take the bait if it's doused in hot sauce? Apollo wonders to himself.
He eyes Trucy carefully, ignoring the way the cart's filling up fast--for now.] This is the first time I've heard you bring it up. How bad does it get?
That's...pretty persistent of them. [Not that he's surprised. Bullies can be incredibly hard to shake off sometimes.
Suddenly, he smirks.]
For your next trick, I'd suggest magicking these hot sauce Snackoos into their lunches. It eliminates the chance they'll say "no" if you straight up offer it to them.
[Yes, you're not mishearing him: this prank's officially gotten his blessing. They deserve a little comeuppance if they've been bullying his little sister for literal years.]
Well, when you're stuck going to the same elementary, middle school, and high school as them... it just happens, I guess. But they're total meat heads. Sometimes I like to confuse them by asking them things like, if Peter Piper picked a pack of pickled peppers, how many pickled peppers would Peter Piper pick?
[ It's a tongue twister, not a question, but they don't get it and it stumps them every time.
That next bit has Trucy blinking, before grinning and laughing. She's pleased he's actually agreeing with her, and she can't help but nod excitedly. ] Hey, yeah! That's a great idea, Polly! I was just going to try to smash them into their faces while yelling 'take that!' but your idea is ten million times better!
[Does he get cool points for approving? Does he??]
...just make sure you're far away once they start eating. [A part of him wonders how she was planning to escape punishment in her original plan, but he decides he doesn't want to know.]
[ He gets so many cool points for that one, if she can be honest. Her grin widens. ]
No worries, I'll be long gone by the time they eat them. Or sitting across the lunch room recording it discretely. As for them, well... we've all become pretty good friends. They get bullied more than I do, I think! Buy they agreed with me, we need a little revenge!
[Of course she'd be recording it. Why is he not even surprised? Apollo just shakes his head, small, but amused smile on his face.]
So. You're friends with these girls?
[He's trying to remember if she's ever mentioned before. With a pang of regret, Apollo realizes that they haven't really shared too many details about their personal life with each other. If those details didn't relate to a case in some way, that is.]
Oh, yeah. Sort of... we're from different walks of life, so we don't really hang out together. But since we get picked on, we can at least talk to one another about it, you know? Honestly, I've only got one or two friends in school, but I get along with most everyone.
[ It's true, too -- Trucy's all for sharing information if asked, depending on the subject, but when it comes to school stuff she rarely says anything to anyone period, including Phoenix himself. She smiles apologetically at him, though. ]
Really? [He's both puzzled and surprised by this.] You're so outgoing, I would've expected you to have a lot more than that.
Besides... [Apollo smiles at her, tapping her hat again pointedly.] It's not off topic if I asked. I want to know more about what's going on with you outside of the crazy cases we get involved in.
Nah, I've never really needed a whole lot of friends. Besides, it's hard to get close to someone who was working all the time to try and help pay the bills, you know? [ Unlike other kids, she hadn't had all the time in the world to hang out after school, not when there were shows to do and bills to be paid, but she'd never minded. The friends she did make stuck around and understood, and that's important.
If asked if she could take it all back and have a do over, she'd decline. Phoenix Wright is the best thing that's ever happened to her; she's got a family, a career that's pretty much a set path now with her shows, and she's even able to say she knows a bit about the law. She's content.
She grins at him when he taps her hat once more, and shrugs her shoulders with a snicker. ] Honestly, my life is boring outside of that! Daddy's always asking me, 'what did you learn today in school?' and I'm always having to tell him 'nothing'.
[ ...Typical, really. But doesn't every kid and teenager say that when asked? ]
Oh...yeah. [It'd been mentioned in passing before, but Apollo had been so distracted by the rest of the Misham case, Trucy's work history had sadly been shoved to the background.] Mr. Wright was lucky to have you helping out back then.
[His smile turns somewhat bittersweet; though the scene Trucy's described seems harmless enough, Apollo honestly has no idea if it's a normal conversation between a parent and child at all. He's got nothing to really base it off of, after all. Still, he keeps it to himself, offering a simple nod in reply.] Or I suppose I should say, you both were lucky to have each other, back then and now.

I'll say this: you really don't make things easy for yourself.

Okay, we'll compromise. We will buy the real deal, and then try to make them ourselves later! See? Not complicated at all!
[ She blinks. ] Do I know how to bake... Polly, I'm a girl! Of course I know how to bake!
[ She doesn't know how to bake. Or cook, for that matter. If it’s not delivery, noodles, or made in the microwave, she and Phoenix don't eat. ]
no subject
He sighs.]

Oh, there's a few bullies at school who need to be put in their place. [ And she's sure this will do the trick. ] OOO! Coconut macaroon flavored ones!
[ The cart is getting awfully full, she's piling the Snackoos in, two of each flavor. ]
no subject
Wait. [Her words finally catch up with him, and he narrows his eyes at her.] What bullies?
