[The file's been in Apollo's hands for a few days now, and he still has no idea what he's supposed to do. He'd mistakenly grabbed it while cleaning up the office (hey, someone has to do it, if Mr. Wright won't), only to realize it contained the details of the Misham case. Details his boss hadn't shared with him. It had stung a little at first; Apollo had thought Kristoph's deeds catching up to him would mean the end of all the secrecy, but apparently he'd been wrong. Then, the dismay had quickly turned into confusion.
Thalassa Gramarye, the note clipped to the photo reads. Sure, she's beautiful, and Apollo can even see the resemblance between her and Trucy if he looks for it, but that isn't what catches his attention whenever he sees the picture. The bracelets are an exact match for his, and Apollo can scarcely believe what that might mean. Though there are million questions clamoring in his mind for answers (Does Mr. Wright know anything about this? Why didn't he say anything?), Apollo turns his thoughts to the one person he knows he should be talking to about this--Trucy. Much as he wants to get Clay's opinion on the whole thing, Apollo balks at sharing the information with anyone else. It feels...wrong, somehow.]

At first, she'd brushed it off as a guy thing, but as the days went on, it was starting to become a little more than concerning. She's just saying goodbye to her father when she feels her phone vibrate in her backpack, and she quickly takes it out and scans over the message.

She can't think of a single thing that she's done wrong enough to upset him in such a way, though. She'd even gone to the trouble of organizing all of his files in alphabetical order just the other day, and still no reaction. This text almost makes her nervous.

She's hoping he's alright, of course -- but she's just got a nagging feeling she can't get rid of, and her thoughts are being tugged in every which direction. There's a pause, before she quickly sends off a second text. ]Hey, do you want to hang out for a bit?[Apollo spends a good minute staring at the words on the screen, mentally crossing off a few places in his mind. The office is out of the question, simply because Mr. Wright is there. Though his opinion of the man's risen again since working at the agency, there's still some shiftiness leftover in Mr. Wright that Apollo doesn't immediately trust, even if it is understandable after the last seven years.]
I'd like that. [That much isn't a lie, at least. Whatever hidden connection there might be between him and Trucy, there's no mistaking that she's had his back since day one. There's also no mistaking the worried tone of her first text. Guilt wells up in him, making Apollo's lips tug downward into a slight frown.]

She takes a few moments to type up a quick text to the manager at the Wonder Bar, telling him that she's sick and needs the day off, before typing up one for Apollo and shooting it over. ]

The uncertainty in his expression is only one sign of several that something's wrong, no matter how hard he's trying to be casual.]
Thanks for coming. [The relieved words escape him before he can reconsider. His brows furrow even more deeply as he considers the time on his phone, before slipping it back into his pocket.] If you haven't eaten yet, we can go somewhere after we...talk. [Wincing, Apollo tries not to think about how suspicious that had sounded.]

[ Trucy quickly looks up from her phone when she hears footsteps approaching, and smiles brightly at Apollo, even if his own expression is a little iffy. Her poker face game is strong, though, and so she keeps her smile in place, scooting over and patting the bench to offer him a seat next to her. ]
No problem, Polly! [ Oh, that didn't sound suspicious, no. It sounds worrisome, and so her smile finally falls just slightly because now she's not so sure. It slips just momentarily, however -- she's not going to start prematurely worrying just yet. Nothing good will come out of that. ] Sure, I'd like that! I haven't had time to eat at all today, I've been stuck with a lot of homework. And essays... and tests...

Besides, after the bomb he's about to drop on her (if what he suspects is true), Apollo figures he should try to make it up to her somehow.

[The recognition, he expects. It is her mother, after all. It's the shock that comes after that he's looking for. Apollo holds back his commentary for the moment. A few seconds later, he sees the exact moment that her expression shifts, knowing she's finally caught on.]

She pours over each word, and reads the document again and again, trying to make some kind of sense of this. But there's really no sense to make of it... possibility of another child, no one had ever mentioned that to her before.

I was in a group home for as long as I remember. [Though his voice is softer than Trucy might be used to, his tone remains matter-of-fact. It's not pity he's looking for in telling her this, not when he's proud that he's able to make it on his own now.] They kept the bracelet for me until I was older, and said my mom had left it for me when she gave me up. I've worn it since then. [Apollo gives a small shrug, like he's embarrassed by the sentimentality.]
A-anyway, you know it helps me see when someone's lying. I don't think there's a lot of these things around.

Sure, it's weird and surprising to gain a sibling after twenty-some years, but that doesn't mean he's going to bury his head in the sand and pretend their connection doesn't exist. Even if Trucy wasn't the sibling in question, it just isn't Apollo's style. Family, surprise or not, is important.]

[Though the people around him would call him an open book, Apollo is becoming more and more aware of his struggles to open up to people like he's trying to do with Trucy now.] I know I'm probably not what you had in mind for a big brother. [He gestures between them now.] We're really different. But I want this to work. We can make this work. Somehow.
[This time he offers her a tentative smile.] Despite our differences, we've made a pretty great team so far, don't you think?

Of course! You're pretty awesome, you know. [ Poor Apollo. They're opposites when it comes to friends -- she easily makes them wherever she goes. Even in school she's pretty popular. Close friends, however, are harder to come by, and she's been blessed to have Apollo as one of the few she can say she's closest to.
Giggling, she nudges him playfully. She would love to make him her assistant at least once, but she knows far too well that's an uphill battle she's not going to win. ] I'm kidding, I'm kidding! I understand, it's not for everyone... although I really think you'd be good at it! I guess it would be like you telling me to be an attorney. I think we both know that would end poorly for everyone.

[Just as Apollo's about to point out how much Trucy's observations helped in his trials, he thinks better of it. If there's another way to tell Trucy she wouldn't make a half-bad lawyer without encouraging her about the whole assistant thing, Apollo can't recall it.
He clears his throat instead, silently letting go of the topic.] Yeah...I'd like to hear more about her.

[ She lets him tug the folder back with a hum, turning her eyes to the sky as she tries to recall anything and everything about her mother. It's been so long that some details are a little blurry, she finds. ] She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside, and was super dedicated to being part of Troupe Gramarye.

I'm sure they did. It makes me wonder, though... if she wore two, did that make her perception skills double strong? [ She can't help this question; she knows it probably doesn't really matter, but it isn't in Trucy's nature not to question things like this.
