[Talking on your cell phone while operating a vehicle is against the law for a reason. It's why Tadashi's ignoring the ringtone while going down the street on his moped.
However, most phones aren't mechanically tampered with by one's little brother into a robot either.
The sides of his cell unfold to reveal arms that begin to slap and needle at him.]
Ow! What- Oh, come on! [He answers it to stop being jabbed at.] Are you serious!? Do you know how dangerous it is to-
[Crud.
He looks up from his scolding to see a girl crossing the street and slams on his brakes.] Look out, LOOK OUT!
[He yanks on the handlebars to turn it aside and ends up wiping out in an attempt to avoid hitting her.]
[Being part of a team that jumps into the TV world and battles Shadow monsters on a normal day means that Rise’s got pretty good reflexes, and that’s what saves her now. Reacting to his voice instantly, she jumps out of the way. The moped just barely misses her, and she waits until he comes to a stop before she lays into him.]
Hey! If you’re going to be driving that thing, at least watch where you’re going!
[He eventually spirals to a stop and gets his leg out from under the moped. Road rash hurts, but he's more concerned about her and he stands up making sure to tuck his phone back into his pocket.]
Yeah, I'm fine. [She'd berate him some more--seriously, how dangerous is it to be talking on your phone while driving?--but he looks even worse off than she is.]
[But his helmet tho. Safety first and he puts it back on now that he knows she didn't get hit.]
Well, it's not a good thing. [He can't front that.] But there's something I'm working on, and a physical injury is just the thing I need to test it on.
[This conversation is taking a turn for the surreal, and Rise isn't sure what to make of the whole thing now. A car honking at them brings her back to reality, and she grabs his arm.]
Geez! Let's at least move out of the street first.
[Rise gives him a moment to grab hold of his moped before she starts tugging him toward the sidewalk.]
[Healthy handshake? He's happy to give a gentle and firm one back.]
Well, Rise, that's part of the dangers of going to the Institute of Technology. Annnd being on the phone when I shouldn't be. I'm working on a piece of tech that should be able to help the sick and injured.
[Tadashi lifts up the spare helmet to get to his underneath it.]
Yup. He’s in the testing stages. [He knows how unhelpful that is, it’s why he grins when he locks the helmet’s strap under his chin.] Techies are weird like that, giving pronouns to their inventions.
[Hiding that he’s lying is beneath him, which is why he’s giving a simple smile that writes it all over his face.]
[Yes! he can finally share his invention with someone without ruining the chance to surprise his brother.]
You know where the tech institute is? There's a building called the Ito Ishioka Robotics Lab, you can't miss the sign out front. Run into any trouble and just say you're there to see Tadashi. That usually clears things up.
[Okay, now he's just bragging.]
Oh, and no food in the lab. [Why's he even smiling about that.]
[Suuuure enough, there's a knock on Tadashi's lab door about two hours later.
Rise ignores the stares she can feel on her back--probably people wondering what she's even doing here--but she does turn and wave at the student who'd pointed her in the right direction.]
[The tint on the glass door vanishes after a shadowy finger on the other sides taps it, revealing a typically cheerful Tadashi.]
Hey, wasn't sure if you were going to show. [His voice is muffled and the semi-opaque tint comes back as he opens the door.] Come on in, don't mind the mess. I was getting everything back together for another test.
[Oh, hey, that's cool. Rise gives the glass a curious look as she steps inside. He wasn't kidding about the messy part, but Rise figures it's just typical of any workshop that's being used.]
Soooo this is where you're putting together your super special tech.
[She surveys the room with some interest, wondering where the healing tech is.]
I give you male Asami

Hey! If you’re going to be driving that thing, at least watch where you’re going!

Sorry, I didn't mean to. Are you okay?
no subject
Your leg! You're the one who's hurt here, not me.
no subject
Not his smartest moment.]
Oh, this? [He looks down to find his slacks ripped and faint bits of blood coming through the red irritated part of his skin.]
Wow. Okay. [He tests shifting his weight and winces.] It's okay. This is actually a good thing.
[He carefully turns around to get his moped back on its wheels.]
But really, I'm so sorry.
no subject
[Rise's starting to seriously wonder if he hit his head somewhere in this whole mess and she just missed it happening.]
Never mind that. Maybe we should take you to the hospital and get you checked instead.
no subject
Well, it's not a good thing. [He can't front that.] But there's something I'm working on, and a physical injury is just the thing I need to test it on.
[He shouldn't be that excited about it.]

Geez! Let's at least move out of the street first.
[Rise gives him a moment to grab hold of his moped before she starts tugging him toward the sidewalk.]
no subject
Ow, ow. Alright, alright. I will.
[Once they get to the safe surface of the pavement he holds out his hand.]
Thanks. I'm glad I didn't hit you. I'm Tadashi.
no subject
[She takes it with a cheerful, determined shake.]
I'm Rise. So, what were you talking about before, about working on something?
no subject
Well, Rise, that's part of the dangers of going to the Institute of Technology. Annnd being on the phone when I shouldn't be. I'm working on a piece of tech that should be able to help the sick and injured.
When it's done anyway.
no subject
[Rise isn't the most dedicated student around, but even this makes her curious. What kind of technology would be able to help sick people?]
I guess I won't be able to see it until you start selling it stores, huh.
no subject
[Oh man, he can't help but give an honest and light laugh.]
But yeah, he's still in the testing stages. But if it's up to me, I'd rather people be able to have free access him instead of having to buy.
[Free clinic? He's going to have to think about that later, right now he's about to get onto his moped.]
no subject
[Just as she's about to wave him off, she's caught by something he said. Something that doesn't make sense.]
Wait, I thought you were making tech. But you just said "he's" in the testing stages.
no subject
Want to see him?
no subject
You bet I wanna see him.
[Thought you'd never ask, Tadashi. She is officially dying of curiosity, and it looks like seeing the healing tech is the only cure!]
Where should I meet you?
no subject
You know where the tech institute is? There's a building called the Ito Ishioka Robotics Lab, you can't miss the sign out front. Run into any trouble and just say you're there to see Tadashi. That usually clears things up.

[The campus is pretty big, but she can always ask around if she gets lost. Rise adjusts the purse strap on her shoulder.]
I have to meet with my manager right now, but I'll head over as soon as I'm done. How late will you be there?
no subject
[He gets into his seat and looks over at Rise.]
Need a lift there, is your work not that far away?
no subject
[She lifts her hand in a small, cheerful wave.]
I'll see you later?
no subject
[He returns the wave and turns on the moped, which thankfully still works.]
Nice meeting you, Rise!
time skip

Have a seat, enjoy the show. [Grinning, he rolls the stool over to her while dragging the chair from his desk behind him to the center.]
You didn’t get bothered by anyone, did you? [Fred’s his main concern tbh. He puts his foot up on the chair.]
