[Jinora shifts shyly in place at the compliment.

When Korra takes her hand, she looks up in surprise, then looks a bit shy again at her question.]

No. I never made one.

I can teach you! Sifu Katara showed me how last week.

[Korra beams proudly and tugs Jinora along.]

Come on, come on!

Si-fu Ka-ta-ra? [Jinora sounds it out as if it reminds her of something and she can't put her finger on it.

Before she could dwell on it, Korra is dragging her along. Jinora follows along, giggling and trying her darndest to keep up.]

She's my waterbending teacher! We're s'posed to have training right now, but she said she has some special people coming to see her!

[Korra takes Jinora to a less populated area of the compound, closer to the gates. While she can see one of the White Lotus sentries peering down at them, she just ignores him.]

[Jinora looks up at the guards curiously.]

Why're there so many guards?

Umm… [Korra looks down, scuffing her foot in the snow a little sulkily.]

I tried to sneak out a couple a’ days ago…. I don’t think they like it when I go outside.

I'm allowed to walk around the island, but daddy won't let me go anywhere else.

So they stand there an' look scary so you won't leave? That's mean.

[bittytar]

[Korra shakes her head.] I'm not scared a' them. I think they just want to make sure I don't get through the gates or something'.

You live on an island?

[spiritjourneys]

Mm-hmm! My gran'pa built it. We've got lemurs and bisons and fish and trees and flowers and a biiig statue of gran'pa Aang in front'a it.

[bittytar]

That sounds really cool...

[Korra's mood seems to take an abrupt downturn, making her frown down at the ground.]

I wanna see it, too.

[She grabs Korra's hands with both of hers.]

Maybe Daddy can take you back with us! You hafta learn Airbending, right?

[bittytar]

Really? [Korra blinks at Jinora, eyes growing wider. It had never even occurred to her to ask, with her parents and everyone else telling her she needs to stay here.]

Do you really think your daddy will let me come with you guys?

He's gotta teach you airbending and we have tons of space on the island. Why wouldn't he?

[She wants to—Jinora’s way nicer than a lot of the White Lotus members Korra’s met so far, and her dad sounds really nice, too!]

What about mom and dad? Are they gonna come with us?

[She pauses for a second.]

Sure! We got lotsa room on the island for them too. Oh! And gran-gran can come with us 'cause she won't have to stay here to teach you waterbending.

[bittytar]

“Gran-gran”? [Korra looks curious. While she’s definitely ecstatic that her parents will be allowed to come with her, she has no clue who this new person is.]

Who’s Gran gran? She’s a waterbender, too?

[spiritjourneys]

Uh-huh! She's the best water bender in the whole world. She invented healing with water!

[Thoughtfully:] She's so good, she's the Avatar's teacher! And that's you, so you know my gran-gran, right?

[bittytar]

[The confusion clears up and Korra perks right up.]

You mean Sifu Katara? That's your gran gran?

[spiritjourneys]

Yep! I call her gran-gran so I forget her grown-up name sometimes.

[bittytar]

[Korra frowns a little.]

If she’s your gran-gran how come she doesn’t live with you all the time?

[Aren’t families supposed to stick together?]

[spiritjourneys]

[She pauses to think.]

'cause she stays here to train you. So if you come with us, she can live with us! My family an' your family an' the acolytes.

[bittytar]

Oh...sorry.

[Korra's lips wobbles a little when she sees what Jinora means.]

Is it my fault?

[Jinora looks down, upset at having made Korra feel bad.]

Nuh-uh. Gran-gran wouldn't stay here if she didn't wanna. So she must like it here.
