[This was Korra. It was obviously Korra. But it was a small Korra. Sitting on his stomach.
He rubbed his eyes just to make sure he wasn't still asleep and seeing things.
No. Still a bitty Korra on his stomach.]
Yes.
[Said very firmly despite the look of surprise he had on his face.]

And I know you.
[He was dressed in his winter clothes, which should have been far too heavy for the warm weather. But this being the spirit world and him being the spirit of a past life, things like that could be ignored. He lifted a hand to a tree branch as he ducked under it and got close enough he could squat down in front of her.]
How did the two of you get lost all the way out here?

[He pushed her hand away from his beard and then moved to pick her up and set her down on his legs so he could sit up.]
Um... yes. I'm wearing these because I'm not from the Water Tribe. And my name is Wan.
[Wan frowned. He didn't like that she'd forgotten everything. Including him. This was not good. It was, quite possibly, very dangerous.]
We've met before. But you were a lot um... You weren't so big.
[Small white lies. He could do this.]

[Wan reached out to brush some not-existent hair out of her eyes. Practically inviting her to cry and get it over with.]
Then we should go find her.
[Wan stood and offered his hand.]
Then we should go find her.
[Wan stood and offered his hand.]
[It is said that there was once a little girl who couldn't reach her spiritual side. No matter how hard she tried.
But there was one thing she could reach, all so easily. Her dreams. After all, in dreams, things are possible that are not even possible in the spirit world.
Such as meeting a monk, around the same age, who is currently giggling and hugging a baby bison.
He turns and faces the girl with a boyish grin.]
Hey! Come play with me!

Talk? You mean your parents? Talk about what?
[She has successfully confused him. Also, he is doing his best to pull her shirt down over her belly. He is not succeeding because it keeps slipping back up.]

The best way to find out where you got lost is to go back along your path until you reach a point you recognize.
[Wan led her deeper into the dark forest, his hand firmly wrapped around hers.]
You might not remember the steps you took to get here, but you can see them. And once you get to a point you recognize, it'll be easier to remember how you got there.

[That confused him more. Wan once more picked Korra up so he could fold his legs up under him and she could sit on the bed in front of him.]
Maybe they were just really impressed! What did you show them?
Maybe they were just really impressed! What did you show them?
Yep! [he says proudly] He's Appa and he loves apples! [And there's a whole basket full of juicy apples nearby.]
Go ahead, pet him! [Aang says as he rests a hand on Appa's snout.] Appa... a new friend!

[Wan was still confused over why they'd spend a lot of time talking about that. It wasn't like she-
oh.
Oh.
Oooh.
Right. Her parents were Water Tribe. Fire was not something the Water Tribe did.
Wan suddenly felt very bad for her parents.]
No... no. You didn't do that wrong. But um... that's why they left you with me. So I can show you how to control it better. No one in the Water Tribe really knows how to firebend. But I'm a firebender and they trust me so, I'm going to watch you for a while and be your teacher. You're going to be here for several days. Maybe even a couple weeks.
[He tried putting this in a very nice and friendly tone.]
It's a training camp! It'll be a lot of fun and when you go back home, you'll know all about firebending. And they're going to be so proud of you.
[yay.]

Mean spirits? What did they do?
[The path Wan led her on didn't seem that obvious at first, but every so often there was a little bit of water sparkling brightly just to the side. A faint trail of water and light.]

[Appa peers towards the newcomer, opens his tiny bison mouth and... sucks the apple out of her hand with the teeniest suction of wind, right into his mouth. He gives a satisfied growl as he chews it up. And Aang giggles.]
That means yes! He loves you!

[One would think that in such a spiritual world, filled with monks and benders, the Spirit of Winter would find more believers around. Sadly that's not the case - people are still very picky when it comes to choosing what to believe in or not.
So it's during times like today that Jack Frost gets tired of trying and decide just to lose himself in the vasts deserts of ice and snow, bothering otter-penguins and tiger-seals, trying to find the rarer bear-dog to ride and place races against.
What he doesn't expect to find is a little girl looking quite out of place in the middle of the white background.]
I wonder if she's lost... how did she even get here in the first place?
[Talking to the animals is an old habit of his to fight loneliness. It isn't like she can really hear him anyway... can she?]

[The past few years have been exceptionally rough for Tenzin, ever since his father passed. He'd taken it upon himself to manage a majority of his leftover tasks while saving the grieving for his private time. ...If it hadn't been for Pema, he wasn't sure if he would have been able to hold onto his sanity.
And now the news has finally reached him through the White Lotus. The new Avatar has been found, filling Tenzin with a full spectrum of emotions. Confusion and hurt - part of him thought that Avatar Aang would just get back up and start living again, after all he was said to have come back from the dead once yeas ago - mingled with a bittersweet fondness. A faint sensation of hope.
It wasn't long before Tenzin traveled to the South Pole, where Tonraq and Senna welcomed him outside their home. They were accommodating - and willing to let Tenzin meet their daughter one-on-one. His nerves were nearly overwhelming - he just wanted to get it over with now. And seeing her by himself, well, the less people who saw him get as emotional as he thinks he might, the better.
And soon, a tall, bald man climbs through the portal into the home, peering for his father's next life, looking as hesitant as can be.]
