Piece of the puzzle, you're my missing part

[It starts off as a normal day--well, almost normal. If it weren't for Todoroki being horribly sick and missing his classes, then it would've been just like any other day on the UA campus.

Still, his friend's been sick for quite a few days now, and Izuku can't help but worry about him. Once classes are out for the day, Izuku makes a beeline for the dorms, heading up to Todoroki's room and knocking on the door without hesitation.]

Todoroki-kun? It's me. [Hm, the door's unlocked. Izuku opens it as quietly as he can, peering at the lump on the bed when he steps inside.] Are you feeling any better?

[Izuku simply leans in, letting their foreheads rest together. It's like Shouto told him before, sometimes actions speak louder than words. This, Izuku feels, is probably one of those times.

It's nice, just staying here, wrapped up in each other's scent, when they've been avoiding each other for so long. Izuku's quiet for a long while, just letting the tension seep out of him, but he knows there's something they need to talk about. Misunderstandings are what got them into this mess in the first place. Izuku doesn't want there to be any room for doubt after this.

Gently, he brushes his fingers through Shouto's hair.] Shouto...?

[It's warm, Izuku is here. He finally feels at peace with himself and his bond to his alpha. After so many weeks of avoiding each other it feels so good to simply settle in Izuku's arms, enjoying the closeness that they were denying.

This kind of calmness is... nice.]

Izuku?

[Nervously, he nuzzles at Shouto's neck again, letting Shouto's scent calm him. It's probably silly to be so bashful about this when they've already been so intimate, but Izuku can't help it.]

Will you be my mate?

[He whispers the question, just to have it out there. Though they've already spilled their feelings for each other, Izuku figures that it can't hurt to ask him anyway, in the simplest way possible.]

[Somehow, after everything they've been through just being asked is strangely embarrassing. His body heats up, just a touch as he soaks in Izuku's closeness.

He wants more of that. More of that touch for the rest of his life.]

Yes.

[Just that one word, and Izuku feels the ball of nerves in his chest loosen and disappear.]

Okay. [His lips curve into a smile that he presses to Shouto's neck.] We...we can go get registered when he have a chance! Um, I mean, when--if!--you're okay with it.

[There's honestly a lot of things on the to-do list now that Shouto's said yes, but Izuku kind of wants to just stay here and cuddle with his mate (mate!!) a little longer.]

[He can feel that smile, and he can't help the matching one that rises to his lips. Izuku's right, of course, they need to get registered, the school needs to know that they're together and that they're probably going to be living in the same room.

But he doesn't want to leave this embrace just yet.]

... Later. Tomorrow?

Tomorrow. [Izuku agrees on a soft exhale, unable to hide his relief--that Shouto's here and accepting this, accepting him.

He nuzzles into Shouto's neck, then pulls away to give his mate a careful once-over.]

You look tired. [It's a soft observation, filled with concern as Izuku cups Shouto's cheek with one hand.]

[What a complete mess those few weeks were. But now that it's cleared up he's allowed to do this. He's allowed to be close to his alpha and be cared for in return.

They're bound, and there's nothing Shouto wants more than to stay that way.]

I didn't sleep great. [... without his alpha. But now he's here and Shouto's tugging him towards the bed.] Rest with me?

Of course. [Immediately, Izuku looks appeased. Not only would he be making sure Shouto gets the rest that he so obviously needs, but there's nothing he'd love more than to curl up with his mate for a little while.

So he goes, letting Shouto tug him along willingly. He slips under the covers, drawing Shouto closer with a content little sigh.]

[Shouto curls close, burying his face in Izuku's neck and breathing in his scent.]

... Mine.

Yours.

[Izuku echoes, knowing that Shouto belongs to him now, too. It makes sense, that they belong to each other. Izuku tilts his head back, baring his throat to Shouto in a show of trust.]

[He presses his lips against Izuku's throat, thrilled at the trust Izuku is displaying. Contentedness spreads through his whole body as he settles down.]

Tomorrow... [Izuku murmurs, relaxing under the kiss to his throat. He runs a hand through Shouto's hair, unable to resist touching now that they're so close.]

Spend some more time with me?

[A date, or something, he's thinking. Somewhere outside of their rooms, when they're both clear-headed. Though he liked the sex, as much as it makes his cheeks heat up to think about, they've been going about this backwards. It's where all the misunderstandings came from.]

[What kind of question is that? Isn't that an obvious yes? Or maybe they haven't gotten completely used to each other just yet.]

I want to.

Okay. [Relieved, Izuku finally releases the breath he was holding.]

Let's go on a date. Um, if you want to! Th-there's a food festival in a nearby town, it's just a couple stops away by train. I heard about it from Uraraka-san. Or maybe there's some place you've wanted to go to lately, some place quieter if you don't want to be around so many people at once.

[He knows he's just babbling now, but he's nervous, okay! Even if Shouto's agreed to be his mate, he's never actually asked anyone on a date before...]

[They're mates now. They've both agreed to it and it's fine. So before he answers, Shouto kisses his lips, quick and chaste.]

I like food. I've never been to a food festival before.

Mm I haven't been to this one in a while.

[Izuku's hand drifts away from Shouto's hair, settling at Shouto's waist possessively.] We can fix that. It'd be nice to go together.

[Shouto's first time going, and Izuku's first time going with his mate. (His mate!!) No, he's never getting tired of thinking that to himself.]

[Izuku's presence is comforting in a way he never expected. But then again, he didn't think he was an omega until recently.]

Gonna stay close to me?

[Shouto's... more possessive than he thought he'd be.]

[He noses at Shouto's hair affectionately. Now that everything's out in the open, it's like Izuku can't really stop himself from touching Shouto wherever he can. The best part is that he doesn't have to stop himself.]

Of course. [It'll be their first time going out together as mates. It's not a bad thing, wanting to stick close, right?]

[Every touch is delightful and lovely and he wants to just bask in every touch.]

Do you know what to say to the class?

[The soft sigh that escapes him ruffles Shouto's hair.]

We're gonna have to tell them something, won't we? They're never gonna leave us alone until we do. [Izuku sounds fond, if a bit exasperated. His classmates are all wonderful, but they're all incredibly nosy when they want to be. Not that Izuku has any room to talk.

His hand trails up and down Shouto's side slowly, more of a gentle, absentminded touch than anything.] What do you feel comfortable telling them? They don't need to know all the details.

[And that's his cheeks heating up now. Considering everything that led up to this...Izuku's pretty sure he'd die of embarrassment before even getting through the first part of the explanation.]

[He sighs happily at the touches. They're not sexual, they're just soft and pleasant, grounding him to the moment instead of the past.

This is much better than getting lost in the past, in everything that's lead up to this moment. The issues at home melt away as Izuku's hands stroke him.]

We can say we're mates. Just that.

[His lips curl up into a smile, though the blush lingers.]

Works for me. That's the most important part, anyway. [The rest of it...well, that's between him and Shouto. Izuku pauses, hand stilling just above Shouto's him.] What about...our families?

[Izuku could care less what Endeavor thinks, but that definitely isn't the case with Shouto's mom and siblings.]

[ He can maybe avoid his father for a while, keep himself at school, not go home during the weekends. But he's going to have to say something eventually.

Fuyumi and Mom... If he says something to his sister, she might say something to their father. Endeavor's going to throw a fit that his son is an omega but there's not anything he can do about it. ]

I'll tell them that I have a mate. Fuyumi still lives at home and I don't want my old man trying to target you for anything.

I can tell my mom. What about your family?

Mom...she'll be fine with it. Maybe a little shocked that I ended up being an alpha, though. [Izuku's shoulders shake with his quiet laughter.] We always thought I'd end up being a beta, like she is.

[He scoots back on the bed, putting some space between them so he can catch Shouto's gaze.] She'll want to meet you sometime, though. [That he is 100% sure of. Though Izuku doesn't say anything, there's a question clear enough in his eyes. Are you okay with that?]
