Piece of the puzzle, you're my missing part

[It starts off as a normal day--well, almost normal. If it weren't for Todoroki being horribly sick and missing his classes, then it would've been just like any other day on the UA campus.

Still, his friend's been sick for quite a few days now, and Izuku can't help but worry about him. Once classes are out for the day, Izuku makes a beeline for the dorms, heading up to Todoroki's room and knocking on the door without hesitation.]

Todoroki-kun? It's me. [Hm, the door's unlocked. Izuku opens it as quietly as he can, peering at the lump on the bed when he steps inside.] Are you feeling any better?

[ Luckily for both of them it's a Sunday. They have nowhere they need to be this early.

As Izuku brushes against the mark, Shouto shivers and clenches around his cock, color rushing to his cheeks. ]

[He muffles his moan against Shouto's neck, instinctively pressing into him more deeply as he starts to grow hard again. This is a nice way to wake up, he decides, with his omega's scent all over him--

Suddenly, all of the drowsiness disappears and his eyes snap open. He's... draped all over Todoroki and they're both naked and oh my god he's inside--

With a strangled little sound, Izuku pulls out of him and scrambles back in a panic.] T-T-T-Todoroki-kun??!

[ As embarrassing as it is, Shouto can't stop the whine that escapes him as Izuku pulls out. ]

Izuku... [ He sounds a little hurt when Izuku pulls away from him.]

[Izuku can't hide the surprise that rushes through him when Todoroki uses his first name. What... happened? The last thing he remembers is bringing Todoroki something to eat... and then...

His hand flies up to his mouth in shock. It's a bit hazy, but he remembers. Todoroki had gone into heat--he'll think some more on how off mistaken they were about that later--and he'd... he'd taken advantage of him in that state.

Izuku swallows hard, suddenly feeling sick to his stomach. Todoroki might still be out of it from his sudden heat--it's probably the only reason why he's not throwing Izuku out right now.]

I'm...I'm so sorry, Todoroki-kun. [Shame creeps into him. Even if he had gotten caught up in Todoroki's heat, he knows it's no excuse. He should've known better.] I should go.

[Quickly he finds the clothes he'd carelessly flung around the room yesterday and puts them on, paying no mind to the rumpled state that he's in. The sooner he leaves, the better it'll be for Todoroki anyway.]

[glaciers]

[He wants to say something, to stop Izuku-- Midoriya from leaving a a hurried rush. But somehow all the words get stuck in his throat as he watches his alpha pull away and leave.

Midoriya didn't want him at all, did he? It was just the heat's influence over him. Shouto never should've gotten his hopes up like that. Of course Midoriya wouldn't want him like that. The heat was driving him into a rut. He wasn't thinking clearly. He didn't want Shouto.

A hand comes up to hold the bite mark on his neck. What would've been binding if Izuku had presented before him.

Maybe it's better this way?

Even if he tells himself that, it hurts. It takes him hours before he gets enough courage to contact Midoriya at all. And when he does it's a text with one word.]

Sorry.

[inheritance]

[Izuku had thought he couldn't feel any worse after waking up this morning, but he'd clearly been wrong. His hand trembles as he reads the text and types out a response.]

It's not your fault. You don't need to apologize.

[It breaks Izuku's heart, that Todoroki would apologize when it was Izuku who had fucked up spectacularly and probably ruined everything. Never mind that he'd liked Todoroki for some time now--he'd be lucky if Todoroki still wants to be friends after this.]

[glaciers]

[It hurts to be told that. He'd rather burn himself again than suffer through rejection. Especially from somebody he adores so strongly.

He's not wanted.

He throws his phone onto his futon before getting up and pacing. It takes him a good ten minutes before he manages to gather his thoughts enough to send anything back.]

I'll leave you alone.

[Since that's obviously what Midoriya wants, right? With the way he fled out of Shouto's room that morning.]

[And... there it is. Though Todoroki's never really hesitated to speak his mind before, Izuku figures that this--everything that happened in the past day--is a bit of a special circumstance.

He knew it was coming and it still hurts more than he could've expected, losing Todoroki because of a mistake. It's his own fault. He deserves to be cut off.]

If that's what you want.

[glaciers]

[Of course it isn't. Of course that's not what he wants. He wants to wake up to Midoriya's embrace, he wants to be claimed, he wants to be Midoriya's omega.

But he's fooling himself. There's no way somebody like Midoriya would want an omega like him.

It would be better to distance himself, wouldn't it? At least the rejection wouldn't sting so much.]

[As he hits send he feels himself tearing up.]
