Cooking mishaps!!
[In some way, it isn't surprising that Yurio ended up in Hasetsu with the rest of them after the Grand Prix Finals were over. As much as Yurio doesn't want to admit it, Yuuri figures he at least enjoyed the time he'd spent at his family's inn the first time around. He's not complaining; he's grown to like Yurio quite a lot since that first unfortunate meeting. And after the two of them took silver and gold at the Finals, Yuuri figures they can have a little fun.
He silently apologizes to him mom for the mess they're likely to make in the kitchen.]
Your grandpa gave you the recipe, right?
[Yuuri rolls his sleeves up to his elbows, adjusting his glasses as he squints at the ingredients and bowls scattered over the counter space.]

... Uh huh. Yeah sure. Just make sure it's really like that, because nobody's got time for that touchy feely nonsense during practice. You can't slack off, got that? It doesn't mean anything if I beat all of your records because you stopped trying.
no subject
I'll talk to Viktor. Make sure he's focusing during practice. [Yuuri frowns now, brows creasing with concern.] Not that...he'll have a lot of time to goof off if he's really planning to return in time for Nationals.
no subject
Eh...that guy handles skating different from everyone else.
[Asshole.]
He'll probably goof off a lot and still put out a good showing for Nationals--not that I'm gonna let him win. [Viktor's a cheating prodigy though.]
... You, on the other hand, need as much practice as you can get. I don't wanna see another shitty performance, it won't mean anything if I beat that.
[It's...almost like he's concerned?]
no subject
[Despite the new confidence, though, Yuuri's aware that his anxiety could act up again, out of the blue. Putting his all into practice is still a good idea.]
I can't wait to see you and Viktor skate against each other this year.
no subject
[HE DOESN'T WANT THEM TO DO WELL.... except he does... it's complicated okay!!]
Ugh. [Viktor!!] There's only room for one Russian skater on the podium and it's gonna be me.
[He won't let Viktor swoop in and steal all of his glory!!]
no subject
Who do you want on the podium with you, if not Viktor?
[And then, he'll add, after a second--] The cutlets are done. Should we wait for them to cool before we wrap them up in the dough?
no subject
[IMMEDIATELY. He nods to Yuuri in response to that, focusing on the food for a moment before he continues.]
Yeah, let's do that, makes sure that dough sticks better and all.
[...anyway--]
I guess third place can be you or something, if you don't mess it up.
no subject
[and he's being 100% sincere as he says this. While he's fond of Yurio himself, he'd have to be blind to notice he doesn't get along with most of the other senior skaters.
Yuuri laughs, looking pleased.] Ah, so you do want me on the podium with you after all.
no subject
Otabek just gets it, alright, don't read too far into it.
[... Also, that's embarrassing??]
Oi, don't get the wrong idea though! It's not like I want you up there, I just don't care if you are over those other clowns! That's all!
no subject
Yuuri hums, brushing aside Yurio's words as usual.]
It's still better than what you think of everyone else. That doesn't sound so bad.
no subject
[This just in: Yurio is still a 15 year old brat.
Also why is Yuuri like this... Yurio flusters, and then scoffs, and then focuses his attention on the food, and then flusters some more, and then finally mutters:]
You're just not as annoying as everyone.
...Usually. You're being pretty annoying right now.
no subject
Because I'm asking a bunch of questions? I'm not... that great at making friends like Phichit, but I know getting to know each other is one step of the process.
[Then, like he hadn't said anything too out of the ordinary, Yuuri hums as he inspects the cutlets.] They should be cool enough now and the rice is ready. Let's fill up the piroshki!
no subject
...Anyway, yeah, let's get it over with.
[He's actually pretty excited about the katsudon piroshki, he's just also a grumpy and moody 15 year old....so he's sulking a little, but eager enough.]
no subject
Let's each take half of the tray to fill these things up with the rice, egg, and cutlets. It'll probably be faster if we work together like that.
[Happily, he carries the rice cooker over and plonks it between them, so it's easier to reach.]
Ahh, I don't think my family's had piroshki before. I hope they like these!
no subject
[They slaved over a hot stove over this..!!!!!
(Okay, no, it's honestly that he likes Yuuri's family and wants them to like the meal that they made, even if he won't ever say so.)
For now, though, he gets to work.]
Besides, who wouldn't like piroshki? [Someone without taste.]
no subject
Ah, we should make sure everyone has some before Viktor takes them all, too. [Yuuri says, with a soft laugh. As much as everyone ribs him about his appetite, Yuuri knows that Viktor's is just as formidable. Even after all these months, he still has no idea where Viktor packs all of that food.]
