For Bill
Things get worse from there: the strained silence turns into heated arguments as Pacifica begins to challenge her parents more and more often, and her father stops pretending that nothing is wrong--in the house, at least. In town, he keeps up the pretense. They Northwests have a reputation to uphold, after all.
Some days Pacifica wonders how much easier life would be if she pushed her newfound conscience back into the hole it crawled out from and went back to her old ways. She'd feel less lonely, she thinks. There's no help from the Pines, either, and somehow that makes it all worse. The one time she'd felt awful enough to make the trek up to the Mystery Shack, she'd found it closed, the family gone off on some road trip. She doesn't think she'll try again anytime soon. She has her own pride to contend with, too, in the end.
Only a day's passed since then, and Pacifica finds herself by some small river not too far from the mansion grounds. It's a quiet place, safe from the cutting remarks from her parents, and far enough from the main town that she knows she won't be disturbed for a while. As she's contemplating how long it'll take her father to cool down from that day's argument, Pacifica gets a prickling sensation at her nape. Eyes narrowed, she whips her head around, long hair swinging from the sudden movement.]
Who's there? [Her voice goes sharp; she really isn't in the mood to deal with anyone.]
Re: For Bill
Bill has had his eye on this one for a while, how could he not, when the Northwest family insisted on collecting his artifacts and spreading them through their house? Usually the windows Stanford left behind at the shack were the more beneficial to watch, but all the recent rebellion and half hazard decisions being made at the Manor lately has been a real trip! No doubt the girl is exhausted after all that defiance.
To think she only closed her eyes a mere moment...
A glint of gold appears in the stream and if Pacifica is so inclined, she may notice that nothing overhead should possibly be casting it. Bill is rather sure she will; as if a NORTHWEST ever ignored a sign of gold!]
"WELL, WELL, WELL! If it ISN'T miss NO- BELL!"
[Slowly he rolls down the waves before popping out to hover before the child, the aquatic texture of the river still overlapping the rest of his two dimensional appearance.]
"NEVER KNOWN many NORTHWESTS to be SOLITARY. What brings the LLAMA so far out FROM HER HERD?"
no subject
Excuse me? Who are you calling a llama? [She snaps out, if only to hide the momentary flash of unease his words invoked. "No-Bell" he'd said. That couldn't be a coincidence, right?
Pacifica looks him up and down, frowning.] Just what are you even supposed to be?
no subject
[He has enough faith that she can fill in the rest. Which isn't saying much. He visibly brightens at the suggestion.]
"Oh, I could call you LOTS of OTHER THINGS- but lets ASSESS, SHALL WE? You're stuck following the routine, MINDLESS outside what you're LED to know, FORCIBLY GROOMING YOURSELF just so OTHER PEOPLE can WEAR you for ATTENTION; YEAH, I'd CALL that a LLAMA."
[He leans in to poke at her shoulder.]
"But all right, SMART GAL, you TELL ME! What ARE you then?"

For Ryuuga
Soooo. [She drags the word out as she turns to Ryuuga, the only one who had landed even close to her this time. At least it's someone she already knows, and is on friendly terms with.] If we got dumped out here again, I'm guessing that means there's something in the jungle the spirits want us to find. Haven't they heard of asking?
[Done griping for the moment, she scans the trees around them for signs of danger.] What do you think we should do? Try to head back to the colony or look around for...whatever it is?
no subject
[He shrugs. While it was nice not being alone in this (or worse, being forced to work with Jinga again, even despite their "truce" until they figured out what was really going on) and especially with someone that he knew understood the more spiritual side of things like Korra did, it was still pretty frustrating.]
Do we even know what they want us to look for anyway? [Because he sure as hell didn't.]
no subject
Unless you got the memo that I didn't, looks like we're going to have to just figure it out ourselves. Again. [Part of her wonders if the spirits will ever realize telling them what the objective is would make things go so much faster.]
Well, there's one good thing about this. We've already been here before, so we know what plants and fruits are edible. [Korra squints up at the sky, shielding her eyes with one hand.] We should be able to get a couple hours of travel in before it starts getting dark.

[He raises his hands in mock-surrender, shrugging with the same motion. His psychometry abilities only went so far, and even then they can be incredibly vague depending on the day.]
Yeah, that should help. Who knows, maybe we'll stumble in on it on the way. Cross your fingers?

PAZ TIME
no subject
On one particularly tense afternoon, the Mystery Shack looks particularly welcoming in her mind. Pacifica practically stomps her way there, fuming. She changes her mind about three-quarters of the way there, realizing with a pang of guilt that the Pines might not want her there after the way she's treated them--she's in no mood for rejection. Wandering off the main path, Pacifica finds a grove of sorts that immediately draws her in with its peaceful air. Sunlight filters through the tree branches as she sits down onto what looks like old, broken stone steps with a sigh.
The quiet atmosphere doesn't last long. Just as Pacifica's starting to relax, she hears a chittering sound from behind her, followed by a blur of shadow when she whips her head around. Her startled shriek rings out, alerting anyone nearby of trouble.]

Pacifica?
[....he knows she's not the worst now, but there's still momentary temptation to leave her while he reminds himself she's not the worst and that even if she was, he isn't a big enough jerk to actually let her get eaten.]

give me the tiny spoiled child
[ He's looking at a wall of swords when he spots Pacifica holding a............ golf club?? Huh ]
You know, golf clubs make pretty good weapons.
no subject
Um, yeah, against little golf ball people, maybe. Do people actually use this in a real fight against swords?
no subject
I'm not sure about going up against swords, but I've beaten monsters ten times my size with a golf club before.
[ How sad is it that Yosuke's Shadow was defeated against a mere golf club........... ]

im here now FOR YOU and korra ofc also assuming ou weirdo cross-canon stuff
he can't really stand waiting.
but there's only so much they can do to fix a giant robot lion so quickly, even if he'd found people willing to help, and people who seemed capable of helping. keith reminds himself of this often, when he paces and paces and finds distractions, tries to keep himself from being too short or too obviously frustrated when asami tells him she hasn't made any progress, and she's sorry, or when others tell him to relax, it'll be fine.
another distraction. right now, he probably needs another distraction, so he gets up from his place of sitting on the air temple steps and searches, his bayard clutched tightly in his hand.
it takes a moment and some awkward asking around, but he finally finds her; he stays still for a moment, doesn't say anything until she pulls her attention away from whatever it is she's doing.
then he says: ]
Hey, Korra.
aw yis
Oh, hey. Keith.
[In the sea of greens and silvers that make up Zaofu, Keith is just as visible as any member of Team Avatar is. Though there had been some suspicion about him after he first crash landed near the city, Korra's noticed a marked increase in curiosity in him now that the citizens of Zaofu have decided he isn't a threat. Korra's can't exactly blame them; it's not every day that a huge machine-ship-thing drops out of the sky.
Keith's unexpected appearance meant that Korra and her friends decided to stay in Zaofu for a while longer rather than meeting up with Tenzin right away. At least no one's complained about it so far, she thinks. Lin's happy enough spending some more time with her family now that they've made up, Mako and Bolin now have something to distract them from Bolin's moping, Asami's eager to get a look at the "lion", and Korra herself has more time to learn metalbending. All in all, it's a win-win for everyone.
Seeing Keith here in the practice area, and not hovering near his lion for updates, is a rarity, though. And Korra would be lying if she said she wasn't curious.]
So, what's up? Did Asami figure anything out yet?
no subject
it's still distracting enough that korra's question isn't responded to right away, and it's clear from the way he kind of... blinks back into attention that he wasn't quite all there, until his brow furrowing in slight impatience makes it clear that he is now.
again, patient. be patient. ]
... Not yet. [ there's a small exhale, somewhat annoyed - never towards asami or korra or any of them, because they're helping and he gets that, but it's somewhat frustrating to be stuck somewhere when he knows what's happening out there. ] Still trying... Giant space lions are apparently pretty hard to crack.
[ which doesn't surprise him but. oh. well.
he shifts a little, looking her over before: ]
How's the, uh... Metal somet- metalbending? [ there we go. ] Looks like you're getting the hang of it.

[ The way he says is suggests that he's aware that "a little overboard" is an understatement. Money is not something Bolin was used to having; even after he and Mako had been pulled off the streets, they certainly weren't anywhere close to rolling in the riches, or even having money to spare, so coming into a large source of income was novel for the earthbender. And being at odds with Mako during that time certainly hadn't helped curb his frivolous spending.
Looking back on the boxes of things now however, he can't even remember what had driven him to fill up his apartment with so many things. The newness of it, perhaps. ]
I mean, I even sorted out a bunch of stuff while packing!
no subject
[She can't blame him, though. Though she was raised with minimal possessions even back in the compound, at least she'd had the option of collecting things. After spending more time with the brothers, Korra's much more aware of the problem money could present. It's easy for her to realize how excited Bolin must have been about buying things he wanted instead of absolutely needed for survival. His and Mako's past struggles have given her a new appreciation of the food and shelter she's always taken for granted before, at least.
Speaking of Mako... Korra glances over her shoulder, as if Mako might magically appear in the hallway just then.]
Why isn't Mako helping you move all this stuff, anyway?
no subject
Oh, apparently he just couldn't tear himself away from some "very important police business" [ air quotes ] that he just "has to attend to", and if I have issues with his work schedule then I'll have to take it up with Beifong.
[ Typical Mako, deflecting the blame onto someone else. It's enough to get Bolin to shake his head. ]
I think what he's really worried about is that he'll spontaneously combust if he runs into you or Asami. Or you and Asami.

for who was discussed!
now, however, she has the time - or rather she has the lessons acquired for her as an early christmas gift from her friends, with a rising skating star. aoi is reasonably excited about this, and it shows from how she immediately starts bouncing in place and waving madly at the guy she recognizes as her new teacher. ]
Heeeeey! I'm sorry, am I late? My best friend needed to talk to me about some stuff and I lost track of time...
one figure skater coming right up
"It'll be good for you," the coach in question had said as he sent Yuuri off with that deceptively innocent smile of his. Now that he's here alone, Yuuri can grudgingly admit Viktor might have a point. This whole time, he's kept himself apart from the other competitors, with the exception of Phichit. There's no denying how much fun he had when actually made an effort with Minami and the others last time. Maybe it's time for a change...?
Aoi's arrival shakes him out of his turbulent thoughts, and Yuuri straightens up, stepping away from the boards.]
A little late, but that's alright. [His generally polite nature wouldn't allow him to speak too harshly, considering it's their first meeting. With a shallow bow of his head, he introduces himself.] Yuuri Katsuki. I--I guess I'm going to be your teacher. [The stammer briefly returns, with his spike of nervousness. He's never taught anyone before, what was Viktor thinking??] Do you have skates with you?
YUURI PLS
That doesn't stop her from making her own commentary though, for kicks.]
Aaaaand here's Kay Faraday, about to do her first flip...she flips, and she scores! [It's a single, but hey, she executes it well enough.] And now, a double fli -
[More like double fail. Kay trips and flops onto the rink.]
Owwww...!
no subject
He'd planned on simply skating by the girl in the beginning, while hiding a grin at her commentary, but he ends up stopping beside her when she falls. He definitely knows how that feels--mostly bad.]
Okay there? [Yuuri holds a hand out to help her up.]
no subject
[Kay looks up and takes the hand offered to her, managing to slowly get back onto her feet. It's then that it dawns on her who's helping her, and she gasps loudly. Once she lets go of his hand, she'll clap both of hers to her mouth.]
Ahhhh! You're...you're Yuuri Katsuki, the famous Japanese skater!
