Good idea. If your friend found him around here, there's a chance he might have come back.
[As he keeps an eye out for any cats slinking around the area, Apollo tries to fill up the silence, volunteering more information than he would normally.]
I took in a stray pretty recently, too. My coworkers thought I was secretly dating someone when I kept hurrying home after work.

Okay, okay, I get it. It's good, exciting news. [Definitely smiling now, if only because Clay sounds so happy about whatever it is.]
Now hang up the phone and concentrate on driving here so you can tell me what it is.

"I would never," Su immediately replies with a laugh that's a touch ironic. She of all people wouldn't judge anyone for wanderlust, if that's what it is. Not when she's sailed the seas, travelled with a circus, and a variety of other things before she found a home in Zaofu.
"But you can't blame me for being curious."

Bumi's expression shifts yet again, this time to something a bit more I can't argue with you there.
"I was in the neighborhood on account of the maneuvers we're running in the Foggy Swamp."
When he says "we" what he really means is "he." And yes...Bumi left his subordinates to fend for themselves in The Swamp while he goes and visits friends.

Of course. Though if you don't play, it's not really fair...
[ She leans in closer. ] Can you really live with that, Apollo?

Well... I mean, do you know a lot about real fights, Apollo?
[Aren't they like courtroom fights just with actual hitting thrown in?

[GOOD MORNING, WRIGHT & CO LAW OFFICES. Hope you weren't expecting a quiet morning because you have a visitor arriving with a bang. Maybe a little too literally. The smoke bomb goes off loudly, covering the sound of the door opening and closing, and there's a tiny, red-clad figure standing in the room when the air clears. In a way, he looks just like a mini version of Phoenix's last client, down to the top hat and cape.
Despite the showiness of his entrance, Apollo just looks at Phoenix earnestly.]
You're here!

You're here!
[Phoenix gives a panicked yelp as the bomb goes off, then he gives a few hacking coughs at the smoke before it dissipates.
Then he blinks drowsily as he looks down towards the figure. That's definitely a very familiar get-up, and Phoenix is pretty much stunned as he takes this in.]
You're... a tiny magician! [It's a cute outfit, but still. I hope he's not some upset fan of the Gramayres....]
...Wel...come?

Alright, alright.
[ Expect Clay to be there in no more than fifteen minutes in a shiny, black Jetta, parked in the driveway of the "Agency" building. Apollo will get a text message sounding that he's arrived, and once Apollo comes down, Clay will be leaning out from his open car window.
Once the two are settled and have decided on their burger place, there's a small silence that Clay takes as an opportunity for him to talk. He leans back in his seat, inhaling deeply, tightening both hands on the steering wheel. ]
So, uh. Big news. I might be going on a trip in about half a year from now.

[Apollo actually flinches a little, a denial already at his lips. Then, he pauses, remembering the spiritually-powered magatama his boss holds. There's almost no point in trying to keep a secret when the office is full of lie-detecters.
He looks away, fiddling with his bracelet with a sigh.]
Not...a lot, but I know more than I would have liked.
[Finally, he answers truthfully.]

Now you're playing dirty. [SURPRISE...except not really.]
Fine. [He sounds so resigned at this point.] Pick a date and we'll do this.
[Even though part of him suspects his boss would probably be better off without Apollo's "help."]

[Apollo smirks.] That's the funny thing. Turns out the cat I found is actually male.
I was trying to find the owner, but I just ended up just keeping him.

[Apollo crosses his arms, looking over at his best friend.]
You're planning this really early. [At first Apollo wonders why Clay seems so nervous about a trip, but he starts putting the pieces together.]
But it's not any regular trip, is it? Where are you going?

[Apollo nods, smiling when Phoenix acknowledges him.]
I'm a magician, just like my dad. [He sounds extremely proud of this. His dad did say their last trick at the court house was a job well done, even if he's going to be gone for a while...]
He said I'm supposed to go to you after he disappears.

[ An irresistible smile spreads over Clay's face, and he's clearly trying to fight it off, like it would definitely give away his cover. And it would. He just wants to stretch this for as long as possible. ]
I got called into a meeting at the Center. I heard it was just to get some extra help on making sense of telescope schematics, but when I got there, Yuri Cosmos and the rest of the board was sitting in there. I just waltzed in like an idiot.
[ He laughs, but he sounds a little nervous, somehow. He clears his throat. ]
The HAT-2 rocket that we've been working on for years is ready for launch, Apollo. And they want me and Mr. Starbuck inside of it when it happens.

"Oh, that old place?" From what she knows, most people tend to avoid it, even those who live just on its borders. The rumors about strange visions are well known, and even the least superstitious of people know better than to test it nowadays.
"Why train there?" Suyin asks, wondering if Bumi had actually meant to ignore the Swamp's reputation.

[Now there's a pause when Apollo remembers everyone else's reaction to the name he chose.]
... it's Mikeko.
[Something like "Cali" for a calico cat, essentially. Go ahead and laugh at his great naming skills.]

Wha-- You're kidding!
[Apollo sucks in a surprised breath, head snapping around to stare at Clay's face with disbelief. His bracelet stays silent through the exchange, no lies detected.
So that means...]

[A grin begins to spread across Apollo's face as it really hits him. Apollo was fortunate to have reach his goals first, but now that they've given Clay this opportunity, it means they'll both have accomplished their dreams.]
That's amazing, Clay! You'll be with Mr. Starbuck when you guys launch, too.
[He shifts in his seat, like he wants to grab his friend into a hug, but with Clay driving, Apollo decides he'll leave it for the burger place.]

Perfecto! I'll have to consult my partner [ in crime ] first, of course.
[ Hope he doesn't mind suddenly being twirled because she's gonna try. ]
Besides, what plans do you have outside of the office anyway?

"Lots of reasons. It's great for stealth training, as well as non-lethal tactics. And it's one of the few places on the planet where my benders and non-benders are on equal footing."
"Plus... it's spooooOOOOOOoooooky," he says for the benefit of the children. Complete with wiggling fingers and everything. Then he winks at Bataar Junior, because of all the children he seems the least likely to be entertained with Bumi's antics.
Bumi is drawn to those sorts of people much the same way pygmy pumas seems to instinctively know who is allergic to them.

[Good thing you thought to tell the truth, Apollo. Or Phoenix's Magatama would have WRECKED YOU.
Phoenix leans forward slightly, looking onwards curiously.]
It sounds like firsthand experience. Way to go, Apollo! You have some more experience than I give you credit for.
But is it experience in dishing out the punches, or receiving them?
