Try to believe walking down the lonesome road

[With the start of their internships fast approaching, it's no wonder a good portion of the students in 1-A are too excited to properly concentrate during class. Aizawa, picking up on their lack of focus, eventually ends the class a few minutes early with a tired, exasperated sigh. Izuku grins guiltily at their teacher's retreating back. He can't exactly blame his classmates for distracted like this--picking their hero names and their first internship is pretty exciting. And a big step toward being pros.

Fidgeting with the bandages on his hands, Izuku turns in his seat and just happens to catch Todoroki's eyes. There's the barest flicker of hesitation before Izuku offers up a cheerful smile.] Todoroki-kun, have you already decided where you're going for your internship?

[The classroom's already emptying out, but there's no real need to hurry out like everyone else is. Besides, Izuku hasn't really gotten a chance to talk to Todoroki since the festival. Remembering how subdued Todoroki was during the medal ceremony has made it difficult for him to shake away his concerns. So Izuku gathers up his books slowly and waits for an answer.]

I'll ask her when I give her the socks.

[The pretzel is definitely good, but he definitely prefers the sweetness of the cakes he had.]

[inheritance]

[Ahh that's a bummer. Even if Todoroki doesn't seem to dislike the pretzel, the reaction isn't anywhere as delighted as he'd been hoping.]

Todoroki, you liked the cakes and crepes a lot more, didn't you?

[glaciers]

This is nice. Salty is fine.

... But I think I like sweets better.

[inheritance]

You have a sweet tooth, Todoroki. [For some reason, Izuku finds this amusing. He's also, of course, filing this away for reference later. Todoroki's preferences are important!]

Now I'm really glad we tried the cake that first day!

[glaciers]

It has a name? [ That's definitely news to him. ]

That cake was really good. I wouldn't mind trying it again.

[inheritance]

What, sweet tooth? [Izuku just grins at him.]

It just means you like sweets. At least now I know what kind of food I should get you to try next time.

[glaciers]

I think I like them more than salty snacks.

[Despite that he's still eating his pretzel without complaint. But he is eyeing Midoriya's cinnamon one.]

[inheritance]

[There's a barely suppressed smile as Izuku tears off a bigger piece of the pretzel and holds it out for Todoroki to take.]

Here, try this. You'll probably like this one better.

[glaciers]

[He immediately perks up like a puppy given a toy when it's offered. He gives it a small bite and immediately he looks very pleased with the bite sized snack.]

It's very good.

[inheritance]

[Now that's the smile he's looking for. It takes about a half second for him to decide--with a fond smile, Izuku pushes the rest of the cinammon pretzel toward his friend.]

Let's switch. [He says simply. If it'll make Todoroki smile like that again, Izuku doesn't mind swapping pretzel flavors with him.]

[glaciers]

[Shouto seems startled as Midoriya gives him the rest of the sweet pretzel.]

Are you sure? You bought the cinnamon one.

[inheritance]

I'm sure. [Another nudge at the pretzel in Todoroki's direction.]

I don't mind the salty ones, and you prefer the cinammon one over what you have, right?

[glaciers]

[He'll give Midoriya his pretzel and take up the sweet one.]

... You're right. Next time we can both get the cinnamon kinds.

[inheritance]

[Heh, Todoroki hadn't even put up a fight. Sweet tooth indeed.]

Yeah. Next time! [It's easy enough for him to agree, even as he nibbles at a piece of the salty pretzel contentedly.]

[glaciers]

Thank you, Midoriya.

[Listen he just really wanted that sweet treat.

He looks so much happier biting into the sweet pretzel than he did the salty version.]

[inheritance]

[Seeing Todoroki look happier immediately made the decision worth it, in Izuku's opinion.]

It was nothing. [Izuku smiles down at the table, momentarily bashful. ] At least we have a better idea of what you'd want to eat now.

[glaciers]

... Other sweet things? Midoriya, what's your favorite dessert?

[inheritance]

Yup! Other sweet things! [He wants Todoroki to enjoy what he's eating, after all.]

Ah, me? I don't exactly have a favorite, but I like almost anything with apples in them. I guess there's mont blanc, too! It's mom's favorite and we've eaten it together a lot, so... [There's good memories associated with it!]

[glaciers]

I've never tried mont blanc before. Where do you usually get it from?

[inheritance]

Quali-Tea Time has them. [Izuku pauses, pressing a finger into his cheek as he thinks.]

I think the bakery in this shopping center has them, too. We could get mont blancs the next time we come back here! What do you think?

[glaciers]

I'd like to.

The next time we're here we can get them as snacks.

[inheritance]

At least we already know we're coming back if your mom wants the plants for her room! So, it'll be sooner rather than later.

[At this point, Izuku's just about finished his pretzel--oops, he must've been hungrier than he thought.]

[glaciers]

[Shouto's much slower and more deliberate about eating his.]

You finished yours quickly.

[inheritance]

[Izuku grins at him sheepishly.] I think all the training from earlier finally caught up to me.

[The joys of being a teenage boy--a really active one at that.]

[glaciers]

Are you thirsty? We should get you something.

[Salt always makes him thirsty, there's plenty of places that sell drinks around here.]
